Howard’s bio
With more than 25 years of higher education fundraising experience, Howard has held several roles. Howard is the current Executive Director of Annual Programs at the University of California, Berkeley. He was the Assistant Vice Chancellor of University Development Programs at the University of California, Santa Cruz, the Director of Annual Giving at Penn State University, the Director of Annual and Special Giving at DePaul University, and the Associate Director of Annual Giving at the University of Michigan.
He began his career in development at the University of Iowa as a substitute student caller. He holds degrees from the University of Iowa and Pennsylvania State University and a certificate from Cornell University. Howard has been a regular speaker at CASE conferences throughout his career and serves on the CASE Commission on Philanthropy. He was a co-author of the 2024 Ruffalo Noel Levitz Alumni Survey Report and the 2025 Ruffalo Noel Levitz Alumni Survey Report.
